k, well im on a little quest to get every horse, but for some reason, the breeding system ****s me over.
i have done the following fails:
Nightmare + Black Horse = Black horse (Should have been a pegasus)
Pegasus + Pegasus = Light Brown Horse (also should have been pegasus) {this one REALLY pissed me off}
Pegasus + Black Horse = Black Horse = Black Horse (Should have been a Nightmare)
any suggestions on what i should do? if these hadnt happened, i could have a black pegasus right now...
heres the guide on how to breed horses that came with the mod, should explain why im so pissed off at the damn mod:
Rules for breeding:
-The horses to breed should be kept close (no more than 4 blocks away)
-There should be no other horses around (8 blocks)
-Sterile horses won't bred
-You have to feed them both to start the process (suitable foods are eggs or pumpkins)
-you can not be too close (4 blocks) or they won't breed
-it takes time (about 1/2 minecraft day)
-the results of the breed depends on the genetic 'value' of the horses:
light horses = 1
brown horses = 2
dark horses = 3
unicorns = 4
pegasus = 5
packhorse = 6
nightmare = 7
black pegasus = 8
Depending on the sum of both parents' genetic value you have a chance of getting a rare breed:
-sum equal 7 = chance of getting a packhorse
-sum equals 9 = chance of getting a nightmare
-sum equals 10 = chance of getting a pegasus
-sum equals 12 = chance of getting a black pegasus
-two packhorses won't give birth to a black pegasus
-if the sum is none of the above, you will get a random horse with genetic value 1-5
(Other than this, i love the mod and i made a barn thats probably like 100+ blocks long, so i can hold a lot of horses XD)

yes it is not always u get what you want but there is a fix for that: in the new GUI vesion you can go to the settings for the mod and change "easy breeding" to "yes" then you get it every time and your horses don't get sterile.

There should be a tutorial on the offical Mo's Creatures thread, I'm not sure and also when i breed horses it's all up to luck!

i have the latest version, and yes robo, we cleared that up.
the new problem is: how the hell do i turn easy breeding on?!
the official thread says its in the ingame options, but its not...

Do you have GUIapi installed?
If you do, then it should be in the options menu while you are playing.

no, i dont have GUIap installed... how do i get and install it?
oh, and for some reson, when i got the new launcher all the mods i had stopped workin except toomanyitems... and they wont reinstall... so i went back to the old launcher they still didnt work... should i just wait for an update to the mods?

I also have a question with the breeding. Once the horse is "sterile", will it always be like that? or should i try again a little bit later?

Yes, a sterile horse is like that forever. Also, I think that if you have a sterile horse and switch it to easy breeding, it'll still be sterile. Like how if you go to Normal mode, encounter, say, a shark, and swich to easy, on which they won't spawn(unless you change it), it won't despawn.

Dudes the option for easy breed is while your playing the game you go to the mod options and then goto animals and go to the bottom on the left and click easybreed easy as 123 hope it helps.

Ha ha you guys should be glad your horses can breed. Mine cant and everytime i lose sight of them one of them (usaully the unicorn) dissapears. They are tamed and im giving them loads of bread. The only breed that works for me is a pegasus and a pegasus.

I got a black pegasus on my 1st try, as well as my nightmare. IT WAS EASY!
